Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 225 g butter, softened
- 200 g brown sugar
- 100 g white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 280 g flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 300 g chocolate chips
Steps
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line two baking sheets with parchment.
- Cream the butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then the vanilla.
- Mix flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then fold into the wet mixture.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Drop tablespoon-sized balls onto the baking sheets, spacing them apart.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centres look slightly underdone.
- Cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
Tip
For extra gooey centres, pull them out when the middles still look a touch shiny — they'll finish setting on the tray.
